Top tips for ski holiday savings

The beginning of winter always put a downer on things. Pretty girls have started wearing more clothes, midday drinking is no longer acceptable and everyone has spent all their money. Sounds about time for a winter holiday.

Before chucking your clothes into a suitcase, it's worth checking out Spinning Hat's top tips for saving some pennies.

Go East: If you want to hit the mountains on a budget, avoid overly priced places such as France and Switzerland. A pint is like £5 out there! Instead look at Eastern places like Bulgaria. I've been three times and its great for the price! It's not posh but the snow is just as good.

Get low down: Generally speaking, resorts lower down the mountain will have cheaper places to stay. You will have to walk or bus to the snow, but you'll save a few quid compared with ski-to-door accomodation.

Take your car: If there is a crowd of you going and you can't find those super cheap flights, consider driving. Its pretty easy especially if you have a GPS and as you're with your friends it should be a good laugh.

Don't drink and ski:If you're planning on partying hard in the evenings, consider getting half day passes so you won't be wasting money by laying in bed hungover. A pint in Bulgaria can be bought for as little as 50p!

Take a picnic:Pack your own lunch in the morning before heading up the mountain. A portion of chips can cost upto £4 in a mountain cafe. Sandwiches and lots of chocolate is great for energy. You can fill up water bottles in the toilets too!
