Well many of you know that the Spinning Hat team are big fans of all things design and development, but we’re also big fans of beer! So we were obviously intrigued when we saw the new Facebook promotion that Carlsberg Canada was working on!

From a technology and design perspective I do have to applaud the company that setup this campaign for Carlsberg. The integration within Facebook was fantastic and the design was great. From a marketing/promotional aspect the campaign was also very easy to take part in, and did have a fun final result that was easy to share on your Facebook profile. Certainly impressive considering that a campaign like this couldn’t even have existed about 7 years ago, really speaks volumes to the progressive nature that advertising and marketing needs to have to stay current and connect with the audience. Looking forward to seeing what’s next!

QTvan Mini Camper Trailer Designed For Use With Electric Scooter

The trailer was designed by English company Environmental Transport Association, is not actually available for sale. They claim they “developed the QTvan to highlight the estimated 220,000 people who use a mobility scooter without breakdown cover and face the prospect of a very long wait should they suffer a mechanical fault or their battery runs flat.”



The £5,500 QTvan is the world’s smallest caravan and is so named because it caters to three peculiarly British obsessions: queuing, tea and caravans. Inside, there's a tea service, a 19-inch flat-screen television, radio, alarm clock book shelves, a full-sized single bed and kettle. It's even available for short vacations, though with a 30-mile range and six-mph top end, it won't get you much further than the park.

Bridesmaid steals show

It's not everyday you get to witness one of the most famous kisses in history. But royal wedding bridesmaid Grace Van Cutsem (who is HRH Prince William's godchild) was more concerned with other matters. Like the noise from the cheering crowd at Buckingham palace.

Pardon me?

HRH Prince Charles is looking perplexed. Perhaps it's the thought of sitting through a longish wedding ceremony with an uncomfortable sword attached to your waist that's got him frowning.

And is it just us, or is the Duke of Edinburgh, having a teensy nap there in the background?

Phone fun?

Maybe this is what had HRH Prince Charles in a tizz. You'd think with one of the best seats in the house Sir Elton John's partner, David Furnish, would be glued to the matter at hand. Instead he appears to be more fascinated with his mobile device. Tut tut.

The horse has bolted?

It wasn't just Kate and William turning heads as they left Westminster Abbey. This glorious equine from the royal procession decided it was time to steal a moment of glory after throwing its rider off. Luckily, reports say the rider is unharmed and so is the horse.

Beckham's OBE blunder?

David Beckham hardly ever gets it wrong in the fashion stakes. But he may have made a teensy fashion error at the royal wedding - by wearing his OBE medal on the right hand side. Apprently it's supposed to be worn on the left. Honorary bling aside, we love this snap of him patting his wife's tummy. Aww.

Andreas Verheijen - Flower Engineer

Floral designers are just floral designers but Andreas Verheijen is a "flower engineer." The strange title may sound like a bit of bad PR until you see his work. It's startling, it stops you in your tracks. Are they real?



How did he do it? Wow. He sculpts a plant display the way a sculptor would handle marble or wood or clay. He reveals the sculptural beauty of a branch of a palm. He creates a hair piece of feathers and moss. He carves a gourd into sensual art. He makes color pop in ways that look unnatural, yet the pieces are real.



Events, shows, displays, massive theatrical floral extravaganzas. We never knew you could do all this with flowers. The master florist was born in the Dutch dahlia town of Zundert, spent 15 years in charge of sales at Harrods floral department in London and now works as a freelancer in Europe. - Tuija Seipell.
